Welcome to My World of Calm and Presence…

I’m Susan

I’m a Somatic Intuitive Healer.

Through presence and gentle touch, with a few words thrown in, I help people feel better in their bodies so they feel better in their lives.

I’ve spent my life living in a world that did not support my own natural rhythms. The world of busy, hectic, go go go, get more done, never rest… I played that role for many years.  It was exhausting. That shouldn’t be how the majority of our time should spent on this beautiful planet of ours.

I yearned to live a life that felt slower, more present, that wasn’t about speed and getting things done. My nervous system simply wasn’t built for this world.

Why Trauma Looks Different For Everyone

We all go through things that affect us—sometimes in ways we don't realize at the time.

Sometimes it's something we clearly recognize as traumatic. Other times, it's what builds up over years: ongoing stress, loss or grief, feeling unseen or unsupported growing up, difficult relationships, illness, or simply having to keep going through more than we had the space to process.

Our bodies and minds learn how to cope with what we're going through.

Those ways of coping can be incredibly helpful when we need them. But sometimes, they stick around even after life has changed. You might notice this as anxiety, tension, feeling disconnected from yourself, difficulty slowing down, trouble feeling safe or at ease, or simply feeling like something isn't quite right.

And everyone's experience is different.

What affects one person deeply may not affect another person in the same way. There is no single way trauma shows up, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing.

That's why I don't believe in trying to fix what's wrong with you. Instead, we pay attention to what's happening in your body and your life, with curiosity and without judgment. Together, we create space for your body to let go of some of what it's been carrying and find a greater sense of ease.

This is the heart of my work.

Holistic healing

A BIT ABOUT MY LIFE SO FAR:

Post college I was a fitness director on a cruise ship.

Best. Job. Ever.

Physical therapy called to me and I spent a decade in one of the coldest, darkest places in the winter… Fairbanks, Alaska.

I love changing up my life so I got my degree in counseling and worked with people addicted to opiates at a methadone clinic. Amazing humans that just didn’t feel good in their lives!

My intuition brought me to Nature-based-life coaching where I helped people reconnect to their deepest longings through nature.

Every step bringing me closer to what felt like the true me.

And then I had my first biodynamic craniosacral therapy session…

It blew my mind… and body. I walked out after 90 minutes in the most blissful/peaced out state. I felt like every muscle in my body had been massaged to perfection and yet all she did was gentle holds at my feet, head and hips.

I didn’t know my body could feel that safe with someone I had just met. I even fell asleep on her table. I left feeling like something had shifted inside of me. I felt calm, more grounded. Having a more calm body kickstarted my intuition into high gear and helped me make changes in my life so I could be happier. I was mystified by the work and had to know more.

I took that practitioner out for coffee and that started my path to becoming a Somatic Intuitive Healer. I’ve always been fascinated by the energy, the intelligence, the source of everything that supports all of life. I know we all have underlying health in our systems.

My decades of professional experience with the body, mind and spirit, and my love for slowing things down to keep my own nervous system happy makes me uniquely qualified to help people bring more calm and balance to their lives.

Yes, some people thrive in the hustle environment, but I’m guessing if you’ve read this far, you’re not one of them. You don’t need to be. And if that means you want to live life feeling less overwhelmed and frazzled, you can.

I’d Love to work with You!

A Bit About My Non-Working Life:

  • I grew up on the sunny white sandy beaches of Clearwater, FL back when nothing cluttered the beach except people, umbrellas, sandcastle making toys and the occasional dolphin siting

  • I’m a variety whore and can only spend a few hours doing something before I need to change things up

  • My variety line-up includes but isn’t limited to reading, running, yoga, trying new recipes, watercolor, pondering deep questions, looking for the woo-woo in life, hanging out with my awesome husband and playing with my 28 lb. adorable pug/chihuahua/cattle dog mix Bodie

  • I’m also childless by choice and never wanted to climb the corporate ladder so talk about being someone who didn’t fit into cultural expectations… Whew!

  • After living in Oregon for over a decade my intuition brought us back to Fairbanks. I’m a spring/summer person who tolerates winter and loves warmth and sun so I have no idea why we’re back but the universe works in mysterious ways so I’m going with it.
